Former Alamo Curator to Speak at Historical Society Meeting

The General Meeting of the Historical Society of Helotes will be held Tuesday, September 12, at the Gardens at Old Town Helotes, 15060 Antonio Drive, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

Dr. Bruce Winders, former historian and curator of the Alamo, will give a presentation on his book Queen of the West: A Documentary History of San Antonio, 1718-1900, winner of a San Antonio Conservation Society Publication Award. He will discuss the transformation of San Antonio from a threatened outpost to a thriving Edwardian city using eye-witness accounts.

Dr. Winder is an internationally noted authority on the Alamo. He served as historian and curator at the Alamo for twenty-three years before leaving to become an independent scholar and historical consultant.
