Why the Change?

COVID-19 is disrupting all facets of our society. Municipal elections are not immune from the risk COVID-19 presents to our citizens casting votes. Thankfully, on March 18th, 2020 Governor Abbott issued a proclamation suspending Texas Election Code 41.0052(a). Since then the Texas Secretary of State was in communication with the City of Helotes. On March 26th, 2020 City Council approved Ordinance No. 20-04 to move the election to November 3rd, 2020.
